Ticket automation is the use of bots to buy tickets for concerts, sports, and other limited-availability events the instant they go on sale, often for resale. It works much like sneaker bots, racing against both inventory and detection systems, but also faces specific legal restrictions, such as the U.S. BOTS Act, a consumer protection law that prohibits circumventing the security measures ticket issuers use online.
Ticketing platforms use security measures and access controls designed to detect and block bots, so the speed of the purchase logic alone doesn't guarantee success.
Some ticketing platforms also use pre-registration systems, such as Ticketmaster's Verified Fan, which analyzes registrant data to identify and block bots and issues verified fans one-time access codes.
